Alexandra and Cromwell, 22-23rd February
We have a tour booked at Electric Cherry Sunday morning, and the orchard coincidentally featured on Seven Sharp Thursday evening (13th February). The tour is tailored to our interests, so while there is an obvious focus on the electric and solar features in the orchard (and who doesn’t want to try the Monarch Electric Tractor?), we’ll look at their pruning strategy using Upright Fruiting Offshoots (UFO) and other orchard matters.
Accommodation in Alexandra is mostly booked out due to a sports event, but there is reasonably priced accommodation in Cromwell, close to Sunday’s orchard visits.

Friday night we meet at the Monteith’s Brewery and Bar (Alexandra). Saturday we visit two hazelnut orchards near Roxburgh and Ettrick, with time for a discussion session over wine and cheese, followed by a BBQ. Sunday morning we visit Electric Cherry, and finish with Dunford Grove, an olive and hazelnut orchard.
